All done at last. After days wasted last week I have now finally caught up with myself. Studio tidy, pictures hanging, a few new small collages completed and a new large work on boards started.(click on the images to enlarge) Phew. It would be nice now if a lot of people turned up. I don't know what to expect really. The Open Studios weekends are well publicised so I hope some interested souls will make the trek out to the farm. I went to the Cuckoo Farm studios a couple of weekends ago and it was a real pleasure to chat to the resident artists, swap ideas and just generally see what other people are doing. Although I like working on my own it's always exciting to see different approaches to art.

Experimental times

Working on the small canvas as seen on the blog post below. It's a little experimental and at the moment too much is going on. I'm hoping that the black marker, which has now turned an alarming purple, will die back. A couple of coats of paint and then varnish, should change it's appearance. The reaction of varnish and pen should make it go a kinda greeny colour. Well at least it did on the other works!!

The boy has been gainfully employed putting up the wood around the walls of the studio. To be honest there would have been a great deal less mess and less moaning about not having the right tools for the job, if I had done it myself. But the final result was neat and just what I needed to hang some pictures. I have only just realised how much more tidying up needs doing before the space is fit to welcome visitors......let alone look vaguely like a gallery!

An artful Summer

Essex has many arty projects going on this Summer. Have a look at the website for list of diary events. Something for everyone. I shall be taking part in the Colchester Open Studios weekends in September, which is very exciting. 'Open Studios aims to provide greater opportunity for the public to access the visual arts as well as promote the great wealth of local visual artists in Colchester and Tendring'. It will be the first year I have done this and look forward to meeting like minded people. I will paste more details of that nearer the time.

I shall be starting 'Unlocking creativity' workshops to be held in my studio too. If you think you might be interested please email me, I will be posting details shortly.
